Small cafe within the main building of the MIHO museum, this cafe is not to be confused with the restaurant which is at the parking lot area. This cafe area specialises in coffee, tea, sweets and sandwiches, otherwise light food which I imagine changes seasonally. In terms of location, it's got spectacular seating placed under the glass eves of a building designed by I.M Pei. The glass roof allows for plenty of natural light yet the wood beams help to prevent this light from becoming overpowering. In addition, there is a view out over the natural greenery. Normally this would be outstanding in terms of atmosphere but it's worth moving that while this may be serene while sparsely occupied, the hustle and bustle of popular museum and the associated queues does sort of detract from the ability to relax and enjoy the environment. Not much you can do about that but it's not too much of an issue! Food wise, I think the dessert I ordered of a selection of 3 mochi was delicious, beautifully presented, visually very appealing especially the choice of cutlery. The dessert itself was excellent, the natural bitterness of the dusting of matcha balanced out by the sweet softness of the rice flour. My favourite of the three was easily the strawberry though that is because I'm not a huge fan of matcha. They were also happy to accommodate my nut allergy, removing the peanuts normally placed on the chocolate one. Normally I'd have tried some of the other foods but unfortunately they sold out of everything else by the time I arrived at around 12:40. I'm rating it 4 stars mainly because I think its a bit overpriced for what it's actually worth. I appreciate that you're paying for the atmosphere and location but I think while the design in theory would be worth the price, in practice due to how busy it was I think its worth less.

This is a vegetarian restaurant situated within the museum. Even though the menu selection is not huge but the food was served at its best quality and form. The salad was very fresh and plating was beautiful, so it was pleasant foe the mouth as well as for the eyes. We were lucky to be seated at the front row of table, where we were able to enjoy the fine food as well as the lovely view. The whole experience aligned with the museum - graceful and elegant. Definitely worth spending an hour of your visiting time at this cafe. The only negative thing is, the windows are wide and big, but part of the moutain view is still blocked due to the outer walls.

Great spot to stop for tea and sweets while enjoying the Miho Museum! I enjoyed the three types of Japanese dumplings with Matcha. It seems some reviewers included information on the other eatery on the premises. This cafe only has sweets and tea (not small meals). Beautiful and relaxing experience!

Beautiful location overlooking pine trees in the museum. The atmosphere is very clean and calm—certainly unique dining in I M Pei’s creation. The lunch set was sold out so we just ordered some cakes and tea. The cakes are decent, but nothing special or particularly impressive. I would go with the Japanese tea and sweets set for the novelty! It was delicious and surprisingly not overly sweet.

Delicious and cute cakes! Not your cheapest mini cakes, but still worth it considering the special location. Many things were not available, which was kind of a bummer, but overall a good experience. We had the autumn cake set and Japanese iced tea. Friendly service, free water, good view, quiet and peaceful environment.
